Julie & Julia

Well, as the title says it is about two different women in two different period of living. Julie Powell (Amy Adams) who is a common 21st century women having a boring live outside her home decides to add something to her life to make it interesting. A blogging idea given by her husband turns everything around her. She decides to cook all the recipes in the book “Mastering the art of French Cooking” by Julia Child (Meryl Streep). She takes it as challenge to cook 524 recipes in 365 days. What begins as a diversion for her life becomes as a passion to her life.

On the other hand the movie moves to the early life of Julia Child who takes cooking into her interest for two reasons, one is that she loves her husband very much and another is she loves food very much. Before taking cooking seriously she tries all other stuffs like learning bridge game, making hats etc. Later she realizes that she can do cooking very well than many people. She is supported by her friends to finish a book on cooking. It takes a great deal of time for her to publish her book.

Julie Powell finishes her challenge. The challenge gave her not only joy but also made her learn the art of cooking. The most important part of the movie is the husband of both Julie & Julia. Both the men stood next to their wife in times of need and happiness. It also showed how a woman would be happy if she has a husband who can really appreciate the initiatives taken by their wife and provide a shoulder in times of need.

No wonder why Meryl Streep got nominated for the Oscars for 16 times. They way she carries herself in the movie is very good. The moment she receives letter from her sister about her pregnancy, she breaks into fits of tears. The tears showed both happiness and sadness (The couple didn’t have a child in the movie). Only few people can score like this kind of scene and Meryl Streep knocks out just easily.

I enjoyed the movie even though I don’t know how to cook. If you are really interested to spice up her life, this is the right piece of movie you should watch.
